Blades Of Xenthra is a game about high fantasy adventurers in a world of dangerous magic, powerful spirits, and a burgeoning empire ripe with opportunity. The game is meant to be about the daring exploits of the PCs in this world and the consequences that follow.

The game takes place in the Imperial City, the capital of the Xenthran Empire, which is a diverse and sprawling metropolis of opportunity and magic built directly on top of the ruins of a great civilization. You could look like anyone or be from anywhere and still be able to find someone just like you in this massive city.

Not all is ideal in the Empire, however. Corruption and oppression by the ruling nobility and the Xenthran Guard is widespread, and the Emperor rules with an iron fist. The state of the Empire has given rise to a dark underbelly within that is ruled by scoundrels, mercenaries, rogue mages, and cultists of all varieties. Beyond the city's outer limits, the untamed wilds are teeming with dangerous monsters, wild spirits, and hidden schemers all throughout the ancient ruins.

The titular Blades of Xenthra were ten mythical blades that were said to grant enormous power to their wielders. Nine of them have been lost throughout history. One is known to be in the possession of the Emperor.
